Successes
Backway’s PT Clinic:
I am a 5½ year stroke survivor, and of all the therapy clinics I have known, I can say without reservation that Backway’s Therapy is by far the most effective. The Backway’s staff show both understanding and knowledge, and present a challenge for you to be the best you can be.
My strength, agility, coordination and, most importantly, my confidence have greatly improved.
If you are looking for such an environment, I strongly recommend Backway’s Therapy.
I have utilized (Backway’s PT) services with excellent clinical and functional results; and my patients have been very satisfied with the care they have received. I believe that the therapists are cost-conscious, not overly utilizing high cost modalities while obtaining good outcomes.
The clinic follows Medicare Guidelines for reporting and documentation, and they give me good feedback through notes and, if necessary, phone calls.
Thanks, Ruth and staff, for the care you’ve given my patients over the years.
Mrs. Backway and her associates provide a unique approach to health care which is compatible and follows the philosophy that our facility prescribes to. Many of our very chronic and difficult cases have been referred to Mrs. Backway with excellent results far beyond what we had been able to obtain at our clinic. With the assistance of Mrs. Backway and our chiropractic care, we have taken some of the most difficult cases and returned these people back to a normal lifestyle.
I highly recommend Mrs. Backway and her associates, especially for those patients of a chronic nature and those requiring neuromuscular reeducation.
Justin & our business:
I presented with a number of health issues due to injuries and trauma, some of which date back to many years ago. The result was that I was in constant and significant pain when I began treatment at your facility. After completing my sessions with Justin McKinney as my therapist, I have many days when I am almost pain free in the areas treated. I also have greatly increased my range of motion and flexibility in the affected areas. This is a direct result of my treatment there and also by continuing with the exercises he assigned me on a regular basis, morning and night.
My own experience, which others probably have experienced too, is that there is a certain point in our lives when medical providers appear to “write us off” as they may feel our age works against us for any kind of meaningful recovery. This truly was not the case at your facility! I felt I was genuinely treated as an individual; this in turn helped keep me motivated to do my part with keeping appointments and doing all the assigned exercises. I left with a much more positive attitude towards tackling whatever health challenges I may face in the future.
Thank you again and my thanks to Justin.
For Marti:
I can't begin to thank Marti enough for all she has done to help me with my journey to re-gain my strength and balance.
I had 2 years of therapy at various locations in Phoenix with little results. All of my previous "therapy" seemed to just be the minimum required for Medicare with nothing personalized.
I'm so thankful I found Marti. She truly cared and worked diligently to customize a treatment plan to help me. She did research specifically about my injury to ensure she gave me the best possible care. She was patient with me and helped me have a better understanding of my injury and how it affects me.
I am forever grateful! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!
I am writing this letter to tell you about one of your Physical Therapists, Martha Henshaw.
Marti set up a program that prepared me for spinal fusion surgery. This program was a major contribution for my rapid recovery. She worked on many exercises and I am currently using all of them.
The Physical Therapist I had after surgery while I was home-bound told me I was way ahead of the curve and did not need him.
I would recommend this plan and Marti to anyone anticipating any knee, shoulder, hip or spinal surgery.
Ruth, Ann, and Peter:
I had a fall and injured my (R) hip, shoulder, and knee, that restricted my motion, and movement. The pain even affected my sleep. I had always been an active person, doing Yoga, walking and hiking, as well as downhill snow skiing. After my injury, my active sporting life came to a stop, and after having constant pain to mostly my hip and groin area, and under the recommendation of my medical doctor in Prescott, I was referred to Backway’s Physical Therapy, PLLC.
I started working with Ann Kehm, PT, BCSI, who initially helped to relieve my pain, and help with my flexibility to my shoulder and knee. I also did several sessions with Peter, Coppola, PT, and later had various sessions with Ruth Backway, PT, BCSI, that helped with my pain on my hip and groin area. I am now happily doing my Yoga practice on a daily basis, and walking over three miles just about every day, pain free.
Thank you Ruth, Ann, and Peter for the help. I often think of you as I walk on the beach, and do my daily practice. I send you all my best for all the wonderful work you all did on my body.
Ruth & Peter:
After a serious automobile accident and a year of trying to avoid surgery, I underwent spinal fusion with a brilliant surgeon in Flagstaff, AZ. After several months of healing, I was instructed by my doctor to seek out a local Physical Therapist in Prescott, where I lived.
By some act of grace, I found Ruth Backway and Peter Coppola at Backway’s Physical Therapy on South McCormick St. in downtown Prescott.
I would encourage anyone needing specialized Physical Therapy to seek out these two Physical Therapists. With equal doses of compassion and hard work, they got me not only back on my feet, but 100% back to normal – something I could never have expected after such a serious operation. I thank them, and highly recommend them.
Ruth:
You have made such a difference in my life and I will always be grateful to you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me and giving me so many valuable tools to work with. I’m doing really well (three months after finishing PT); still living life without Advil!
In 1990, I had sustained a repetitive strain injury to my hands. I had been employed as a technical writer and found myself unable to type at a computer or use my hands for more than a few minutes to perform the activities of daily living. I could do little cooking or cleaning. I could not grip the steering wheel as I drove my car. I estimate that I had less than ten percent use of my hands during my seven long years of disability.
After a string of failed therapies, both traditional and alternative, I found Hellerwork Structural Integration with S. B., and my symptoms improved dramatically. I was able to use my hands without pain for longer and longer periods of time. After 13 sessions with her, I felt that I was well on my way to recovery.
Soon afterwards, my husband and I moved to Flagstaff, Arizona to begin anew.
Following the very hand-intensive and overall physical strain of moving, my old symptoms came back. I was terrified that I would return to my previous state of disability. I sought help from two other practitioners before finding Ruth Backway.
After my first session with Ruth, it was clear that she was quite skilled at her work, and has much to offer patients, especially those who do not get better as expected.
Through her hands-on work, Ruth helped to return my entire body to a more balanced, integrated structure. Through her advice and instruction, I have learned to correct bad postural habits that had contributed to my distress. Though I still must take steps to maintain my dramatic recovery, I have once again achieved lasting comfort in my body.
After returning to school to earn my master’s degree, I am now employed as a full-time technical editor at (name removed for privacy). If it weren’t for Ruth’s expertise and skill I would not be where I am today.
Ruth has exceptional skill and has helped me regain my life and my ability to be gainfully employed. Ruth’s work is phenomenal, and I wish there were more people with her skill and training.
I am a 75 year-old woman who has suffered from severe pain and dysfunction of my left shoulder for the past 20 years. I was told by a number of physicians that my shoulder was frozen. Through the years I have been treated with chiropractic, naturopathy, massage therapy, Feldenkrais Method and other therapies the names of which I do not recall. My left arm remained largely useless, because even using the range of motion that remained caused me so much pain that I gradually gave up using it.
Eventually, treatment with Ruth Backway was prescribed. I was told that if anyone could fix my shoulder she could. I began treatment, but she soon recognized that I needed surgery. The surgery was successful, and I resumed Physical Therapy with Ruth as soon as I was allowed.
I now have almost normal range of motion and my arm is getting stronger every week. I am pain free most of the time, so I no longer am dependent upon prescription pain medication to get through the days and nights.
While under treatment, my posture has been modified and my persistent body aches and pains have diminished. I am now learning to help myself through exercises, and I am learning to walk properly, something I seemed to have failed to learn in my seventy-five years on the planet.
For me, Physical Therapy at Backway’s PT has been effective in treating many complaints where other therapies have failed.
